Industry’s digital strategists gear up for CultureGeek in London
CultureGeek is taking place in London on Friday, a one-day conference focused on the ever-evolving relationship between the digital world and the world of cultural attractions.
CultureGeek, which began in 2012, has already registered more than 200 delegates, who will listen to cross-sectoral presentations from dance company Rambert, New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, MIT Media Lab, Foundation Louis Vuitton, National Theatre, Royal Opera House, Science Museum and Hull City of Culture 2017.
Augmented and virtual reality, crowdfunding platforms, social media, live streaming, digital asset management, 360 films, digital signage, ticketing and touchpoint design are all topics on the schedule.
David Watson will discuss the digital initiative for the Hull’s year in the spotlight, while the Science Museum’s Will Stanley is giving a presentation on the attraction’s Kickstarter campaign to bring a robot back to “life”.
Patricia Buffa, head of digital communications, Fondation Louis Vuitton, will discuss how to engage the Chinese audience with social media platforms, lessons learned from it and the foundation’s strategy for the coming years.
Kimberly Drew, social media manager for the Met, will speak about CTRL+F "BLACK", introducing her blog, Black Contemporary Art, and discuss the importance of oral histories, archives, and Facebook groups.
CultureGeek takes place on 19 May at Kensington’s Royal Geographic Society.
