Qatar-owned luxury resort and spa to open in 2016 in Malaysia
The Qatar-owned Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment Company has begun construction of its luxury resort and spa in Malaysia, located in the beachfront village of Chendering in the Sultanate of Terengganu.
According to local press, the hotel will be managed by Moevenpick Hotels and Resorts. The site will comprise 210 rooms, 20 villas, 20 condominiums and 9 luxury pavilions in addition to swimming pools, undisclosed spa facilities and conference space.
The 44.6-acre (0.2km sq) resort is expected to open in early 2016.
The project is a 50:50 joint venture between Qatari Diar and Eclipse Hotels Group.
The majority developer is Qatari Diar in partnership with the Malaysian private investment company, Success Circle.
Qatari Diar is currently involved in some 49 projects in 29 countries across the Americas, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia.
