Harrow Council has resolved to commission the Whitchurch Consortium to develop a new community sport and leisure facility at Whitchurch Playing Fields, north west London.
A derelict pavilion will be transformed into a modern venue offering a number of facilities – including a gym, a sports hall, a health/beauty clinic and a training room.
The Whitchurch Consortium was selected as the council's preferred bidder last year and is to reinvest money raised by the facility in the surrounding playing fields.
Harrow Council portfolio holder for property and major contracts Thaya Idaikkadar said: "These plans will provide good quality modern leisure facilities at no cost to taxpayers.
"There is a shortage of good quality outdoor sports pitches across the borough so I am delighted to see such a tremendous level of support from the community for our plans."
The consortium comprises three main groups - Blake Hall Club, Runwood Homes and Cavendish Rowe. Wincer Kievenaar, Lasserton and Truftrax are also involved.
