Ohio waterpark to reopen in May
Details of The Beach Waterpark in Ohio, US, have been revealed as it prepares to reopen under new management in May, following its sudden closure before the 2012 season.
Adventure Landings and its parent company Adventure Holdings have invested US$5m (3.75m euro, £3.22m) in the park - originally opened in 1985 - revamping rides and introducing new areas to the 35-acre tropical-themed park, which features more than 2,600 tonnes of white sand and 150 palm trees.
The waterpark, which closed last year due to the economic climate and poor attendance, is the 18th in Adventure Holdings portfolio of family attractions in locations including Florida, Kansas, Missouri, New York, North Carolina, Ohio and Texas.
The park features 40 pools, slides and entertainment attractions, and new additions when it reopens will include a 500,000-gallon heated wave pool, new activity areas for children and adults, and a toddlers' play area including misting sprays, cascading fountains and shooting geysers.
Existing rides, including body slide flumes, a translucent hydroslide, a lazy river, rapid rides and a water coaster, are being renovated before the opening.
The waterpark's grand opening will take place on 18 May, before it opens for business the next weekend.
More than 8,000 season tickets for 2012, which were not refunded by the previous management, will be valid for the 2013 season.
