Northern lights, daily yoga on offer at Finnish wellness retreat
Off the Map Travel has launched a four-day ‘Northern Lights for the Soul’ wellness programme at the Tundrea Resort in Finland, set for March 2016.
The programme includes yoga, exercise and relaxation techniques, meditation, a wellness nutrition menu using local recipes and produce, plus access to the spa, hot tub and ice hole. There will also be an exploration of Sami beliefs around the Aurora, daily Northern Lights hunts, and a traditional kota evening meal cooked on a fire.
“Anyone who has experienced the Arctic night sky and the northern lights will agree that it is a transcendent experience,” said Jonny Cooper, director of Off the Map Travel. “Combine this with the isolation and beauty of the Arctic tundra and you will have an amazing shift in physical and emotional wellbeing.”
The quiet isolation of the far Northern hemisphere lends itself well to wellness retreats and has attracted several initiatives. Earlier this year, a remote, moveable Arctic sauna brought wellness to a remote beach on an island in the Norwegian Arctic Circle as part of a cultural programme of art and music.
