Universal Studios Japan (USJ) has announced plans for a Jurassic Park-themed flying coaster, with a ¥10bn (US$83.4m, €74.2m, £54.9m) investment into the B&M-manufactured ride.
Arriving in Q2 2016, the Flying Dinosaur will “simulate being in the grip of a pteranodon pterosaur, soaring up and down in the air at high speed,” according to USJ. The attraction will tell the story of how pteranodons have been secretly living in the trees of the park, during an attempt to tame the dinosaurs things go awry and you end up being captured by the beast.
The 1,124m (3,687ft) ride will swing 360-degrees with a 37.8m (124ft) drop which sees riders hanging face-down in midair.
Japanese credit card company JCB will sponsor the ride, which will mark the park's 15th anniversary by opening at the end of March.
