Les Mills to offer free virtual classes on National Fitness Day
Les Mills UK has teamed up with ukactive to offer its Born To Move virtual class to 10,000 schools across the UK for free on National Fitness Day later this month.
Born To Move is a series of movement-based classes for toddlers through to teenagers.
On National Fitness Day (27 September), the virtual class will be provided in a file format and downloaded via a link provided by ukactive. The class will also be available to parents in the National Fitness Day school toolkit, to encourage parents to use it at home and further drive physical activity.
“This year, National Fitness Day aims to achieve a UK first by supporting 10,000 schools to get their pupils moving for 10 minutes. The 10 minutes of fitness can be whatever you want it to be; it’s a great opportunity to think of creative ways to get children moving and unlock the benefits of being active,” said Jack Shakespeare, head of ukactive Kids.
Dr Jackie Mills MD, Les Mills chief creative officer, added: “The early years of life are a critical window to form positive habits. That’s why we’ve developed Born To Move. We want to instill a love of being active in children so they can grow into active, healthy and happy adults.”
National Fitness Day will see more than 20,000 free events in gyms, leisure centres, parks, high streets, schools, universities and workplaces as more than 1 million people get active for the day.
