A US$60m (£39m, €46m) Biomuseum is preparing to open in Panama City and will be the first Frank Gehry designed building in Latin America.
Gehry - who has revolutionised architecture with his unique designs such as the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao and Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles - designed the 4m sq ft (371 000sq m) building in his typical style of controlled chaos characterised by unpredictability.
The museum consists of eight galleries, which in chronological order, narrates the story of Panama as a primordial bridge for migrating biodiversity. It will house a diverse collection of plants totalling 1,300 varieties and over 100 different animals.
Panama hopes the museum will become a major tourist draw card and attract 600,000 visitors per year.
