Towns and villages throughout Europe are celebrating their common Cluny heritage this year as part of efforts to increase tourism in the regions.
Exactly 1,100 years ago, in 910, a Benedictine monastery was founded in Cluny in Burgundy, France. Eventually, more than 1,500 Cluniac priories and monasteries were established across Europe.
In Scotland, two Cluniac monasteries - Paisley and Crossraguel - are celebrating over the weekend of 14th to 16th May with a programme of events.
On Saturday 15th May, Paisley Abbey will be the scene for a Medieval Fair aimed at families with all activities free of charge.
Coach tours will also be organised from Paisley Abbey to Kelburn Castle, Dundonald Castle and Crossraguel Abbey, with historic re-enactments taking place at each venue.
At Kelburn Castle, Glasgow Vikings will set up a living history village encampment with displays of period crafts such as weaving, woodturning, metalworking and jewellery casting.
At Dundonald Castle and Crossraguel Abbey, Black Raven Living History will re-enact a scene from the castle and abbey's history.
