Footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has announced that he is opening a museum devoted to himself.
The museum will be located on the Portuguese island of Madeira, where he was born, and be used to showcase memorabilia from his career, including trophies, footballs and photographs.
It is reported that Ronaldo has said he will attend the opening on 15 December in person, the project - according to a source - being "a dream for Cristiano. He wanted to give something back to Madeira and he came up with the idea".
Ronaldo began his footballing career as a youth player at local club Andorinha, before moving to CD Nacional and from there to Sporting Clube de Portugal in 1997.
In 2003 he was signed for Manchester United for a fee of £12.24m, and in 2009 became the then most expensive football player in history when he moved from Manchester United to Real Madrid in a deal worth £80m.
Ronaldo is still at Real Madrid, having recently signed a new contract with the club until 2018. He made his 200th competitive performance for them in August this year and is the captain of the Portuguese national team.
