Minor reveals first Anantara resort in Cambodia
Hotel owner, operator and investor Minor Hotel Group (MHG) has announced the addition of its first property in Cambodia.
The group has acquired majority ownership of Sothea Boutique Resort in Siem Reap, which will be rebranded to Anantara Angkor Resort & Spa later this year.
This new addition will bring MHG’s portfolio to 95 properties in operation across 14 countries. The group has also just launched Anantara Dubai The Palm Resort & Spa and will open an Anantara resort in Africa before the end of the year.
Anantara Angkor Resort & Spa will be a 39-suite boutique resort in Siem Reap, home to the UNESCO World Heritage Angkor Wat temples, Cambodia’s most visited destination.
Located ten minutes from Siem Reap International Airport and close to Angkor Wat and Siem Reap’s quaint central district, the resort is housed within an estate. Each guestroom houses artwork designed by local artists and custom-made furniture can be found throughout the resort.
The spa, with its five spa and massage suites, offers a selection of organic treatments and daily yoga. In addition, the gold-flecked, terrazzo-tiled pool has built in seats on all sides, complete with spa pool jets.
The resort’s main restaurant offers a modern interpretation of native Khmer recipes, with alternative dining available on the alfresco terrace and in the frangipani tree lined courtyard.
Dillip Rajakarier, CEO Minor Hotel Group, said: “We are thrilled to add Cambodia to our ever growing list of countries with this beautiful boutique resort in Siem Reap joining our portfolio. It’s exciting times for Anantara right now – this addition strengthens the brand’s position in Southeast Asia.
