Le Méridien to invest US$200m in MEA hotels
Starwood Hotels & Resorts brand Le Méridien has announced it will invest US$200m (155m euro, £132m) to renovate 13 hotels and resorts in the Middle East and Africa over the next three years.
Hotels included in the renovation are Le Méridien Ile Maurice in Mauritius and Le Méridien Pyramids Hotel & Spa in Egypt - both of which feature the group's Explore Spa.
Other hotels included in the renovations are located in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Gabon, Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
Additionally Le Méridien has a new hotel planned for the terminal at Egypt's Cairo Airport - the only hotel with direct access to the airport's international terminals.
Global brand leader for Le Méridien and Westin Brian Povinelli said: "Since acquiring Le Méridien in 2005, Starwood and its hotel ownership groups have made a tremendous effort to enhance and create a consistent portfolio around the world."
"Le Méridien now boasts the best performance measures in the brand's history, and our focused efforts on the Middle East and Africa hotels will only help ensure Le Méridien maintains its best portfolio ever."
