British Yorkshire Pudding Day set to rise to the occasion
Dust off your baking trays as Sunday 3 February 2008 sees the launch of the first ever British Yorkshire Pudding Day.
With support from the English Beef and Lamb Executive, British Lion Quality Eggs as well as the Flour Advisory Bureau this new celebration of British cuisine is set to be a huge success.
Florence Sandeman, publisher of online portal Recipes4u.co.uk is optimistic that the day will be a massive hit with the British public. She enthuses: “I am hoping that this will be one day a year when people of all ages and from all walks of life feel that they can get together with family and friends, at home or in eateries and pay tribute to a great British tradition in a light-hearted and fun way.’”
She continues: “Yorkshire pudding boasts a history dating back hundreds of years, during which time it has been eaten by millions of people. The recipe has stood the test of time and has even been successfully exported to other countries. It only seems fitting that such an iconic and age old recipe should have its own celebrations and go on to become an established and popular British food event.”
