Report: Glasgow 2014 preparations 'on track'
A new report from Audit Scotland has found that preparations for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow continue to progress, although "risks remain" over certain projects.
Progress report 2: planning for the delivery of the 20th Commonwealth Games 2014 said the main organisers are committed to delivering the event within its £524m budget.
Fieldwork for the study was carried out during November 2011 and found that planning was on course and that infrastructure projects would be completed on time for the 2014 Games.
However, Audit Scotland said there are "key risks" over the delivery of elements such as the Athletes' Village and the development of Hampden Park as a track and field venue.
Auditor general for Scotland, Robert Black, said: "Because around 70 per cent of the infrastructure is already in place, the risks involved in this major project are less than for other Games.
"Nevertheless an event like this is always going to have risks. At this stage, the organisers are identifying and managing these risks but cannot eliminate them completely."
